From 2 to 5 June 2025, representatives of the Audit Authority of Montenegro visited Sweden as part of a study visit to their counterparts from the Swedish National Financial Management Authority.
The visit was organised within the framework of a TAIEX mission dedicated to the audit of agriculture and rural development programme (IPARD), and served as an opportunity to exchange experiences with institutions that share similar objectives and responsibilities. This exchange will be highly beneficial for the ongoing and future work of the Audit Authority of Montenegro, particularly in the context of the country’s accession to the European Union.
Particular focus was placed on fraud detection, risks of double financing, the use of artificial intelligence in auditing, on-the-spot checks, as well as the use of satellite geo-images (especially for IACS purposes) in monitoring agricultural subsidies.
The Auditor General, Ms Ksenija Barjatkarović, had the opportunity to present the work of the Audit Authority of Montenegro to her Swedish counterparts, as well as the experiences and lessons learned over the previous period.
During their stay in Sweden, the representatives also visited the Ministry of Rural Development and Infrastructure, where they exchanged experiences on the establishment of management and control system, cooperation, and the access of Swedish National Financial Management Authority auditors to national registers and information systems.
